Dr. B. Sadashiva Murthy
President

Greetings from Bangalore !

The response for the 37th APSICON is good. I would like to invite all those who have not yet registered to do so now. Since our Association can meet only once a year there are various aspects we have to give importance. Apart from concentrating on the Academics and Professional work, we need to think of the functioning of the Association through the Executive Committee, the fellowship, Finances for the Journal and other social activities to keep our young and new members constantly attracted towards the Association activities. Since the Executive Committee and General Body meets only once a year, more detailed planning/discussion and execution of the policies decided by General Body are required. I expect better participation of the members in the General Body for suggestions of more effective ways of functioning.

Medical Council of India is yet to accept and finalize about the curriculum recommended by the APSI for MCh training programme, But it has accepted and circulated about the uniform duration of the MCh course for 3 years. This has to be adopted by all the 20 and odd training institutes engaged in postgraduate training courses with guidance from concerned Universities.

I have received many suggestions with regard to “Smile Train Programme”. We need to have more discussions about that during the Conference. I request especially those who are having MCh/DNB programmes to take part in the discussion to arrive at better method of implementation of the Scheme under the leadership of a Plastic Surgeon/ Member of Association of Plastic Surgeons of India.

The menace of doctors from abroad whose credentials are not known to the APSI is still continuing. I have approached the MCI and the Government of India to formulate proper controls and put an end to unscientific and illegal methods of experimenting on our citizens by the so called specialists and very eager NGO’s who are obsessed with arranging “Free Treatment”.

I would again appeal for participation in “Mysore Visit” by informing well in advance which will enable us to make proper arrangements.

We look forward to see you in Bangalore.

With ward regards,

Yours sincerely,
Prof. B.Sadashiva Murthy
