No. 32 New Delhi Dr. Rajeev
B. Ahuja Dear Members, This July Newsletter was intentionally delayed. The July Newsletter contains the notice of General Body meeting and since APSICON is taking place in November end it would have been too premature to serve the notice in July. Although, there have been a few hiccups, the work on bringing out the directory is proceeding at the right pace. In spite of a reminder I have received the updated data from less than 40 percent members. We are still in a position to accommodate data inputs because final proof reading is still some time away, and therefore, all those who would like to send in the completed form now are most welcome to do so by the end of September. Of course you can e mail the completed form to me, after downloading it from the web site (Newsletter, Nov. 2001 ). Finances for the directory have been the other major hurdle, although they were sanctioned at Mehsana meeting. The President and I have now decided to collectively mobilise resources from advertisers for this venture, and because of President’s keen interest the directory will be released during the inauguration ceremony of APSICON 2002. Burn management does not have many takers in our country. At the Quadrennial Congress of ISBI in Seattle, USA, there were only 6 delegates from India. American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin ( AAPI) with over 20000 members is keen to improve and contribute to burn care in India and has constituted a task force for same. If you are keen on working on this collaboration then you may contact Dr. Mathangi Ramakrishnan (kmr_mathangi@hotmail.com). The cyber city of Bangalore beckons you all to attend APSICON 2002. The local scientific committee is working overtime to accommodate as many presentations as possible. I believe they are inundated with abstracts this time. Looking forward to seeing you at Bangalore. With best wishes. Rajeev B. Ahuja |
