Obituary

Very sadly I report 2 tragic instances.


Dr. Rajesh Padia, a members of APSI and practicing in Ahmedabad, lost his life and that of his son during the unfortunate earthquake of 26th January. The multistoried apartment building where he lived collapsed, causing the tragedy, which also rendered his wife paraplegic and hurt his only surviving daughter. May God grant peace to the departed soul and give courage to the family to bear the loss. Dr. Padia had done his Mch from KEM Medical College, Mumbai in 1988 and was an active member of APSICON at Baroda. This is an unparalleled tragedy that has befallen on one of our members and Plastic Surgeons from Baroda have taken a lead in collecting some contributions from our members for the bereaved family. On the maximum extent possible. Contributions may be drawn in favour of 'BAPS - Dr. Padia Fund' and sent by registered post/courier to Baroda Association of Plastic Surgeons, C/O Nishta Hospital, C.C.Patel Square, Race Course Circle, Ellora Park Road, Baroda - 390 007.

Brig. (Retd.) Rasamay Ganguly, AVSM, VSM, and Past President of APSI passed away on 14th February. May God grant peace to the departed should and give courage to the family to bear the loss. Dr. Ganguly had a brilliant career and had received numerous awards, including the Hallett Prize from Royal College of Surgeons, England, the B.C. Roy Award and the Col.Pandalai Oration.
