LOK NAYAK HOSPITAL & ASSOC. MAULANA AZAD MEDICAL COLLEGE, NEW DELHI

The workshop cum " Instructional Course In Rhinoplasty -2000 " was held at Lok Nayak Hospital & associated Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, from 31st March to 2nd April 2000. The programme was organised by Department of Burns, Plastic, Maxillofacial & Microvascular Surgery, Lok Nayak Hospital and the Delhi Chapter of APSI . The programme was sponsored by Association of Plastic Surgeons of India, Medical Council of India, National Academy of Medical Sciences and the Council for Scientific & Industrial Research.

The workshop was well attended with 150 registered delegates from all parts of our country . The invited faculty comprised of eminent rhinoplasty surgeons from India & abroad. They included Dr. Kulwant S. Bhangoo (USA), Dr.B.M.Daver & Dr. Narendra Pandya (Mumbai), Dr. K.Ramachandran (Chennai), Dr. C.P. Sawhney, Dr. Suresh Gupta, Dr. V.P. Sood (New Delhi). Besides these there were many Senior Plastic Surgeons from Delhi who chaired scientific sessions and delivered lectures. They included Prof. J.L. Gupta, Adm. J.C. Sharma, Dr. I.N. Tiwari, Dr. S.S. Sethi, Dr. Vimla Rajan, Dr. Rajeev B. Ahuja, Dr. Rakesh Khazanchi, Col. A.S. Bath, Dr. P.S. Bhandari ,Dr. Arun Goel and Dr. Lokesh Kumar. It was for the first time in our country that rhinologists & plastic surgeons had an opportunity to come on a common platform & share their experience. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. S.K. Bhatnagar , President APSI .

The 3 days workshop cum intense teaching programme included live operative demonstrations, scientific sessions, panel discussions & video presentations. The sessions were categorised into reconstructive rhinoplasty, aesthetic rhinoplasty , cleft lip nose rhinoplasty and complications / miscellaneous. A copy of the " Scientific Proceedings " which included text of all the lectures was provided free of cost to each delegate.

Perhaps for the first time in our specialty the workshop cum course was evaluated by the delegates for organisation, content, faculty and utility. The uniform opinion was that the course was highly informative and educative. It was strongly recommended by many delegates that such courses should be held on a regular basis at least once every year
